Clo Bare Money Coach Review: How Taylor 3x’d Her Net Worth, Survived Two Layoffs, and Traveled the World Doing It

A Clo Bare Money Coach student success story

If you’ve been researching Clo Bare Money Coach and wondering whether the Lazy Investor’s Course or the Wealth Freedom Accelerator actually works — Taylor’s story is one of the most honest answers I can give you.

Taylor didn’t come to me as a financial disaster. She wasn’t broke or drowning in debt she’d created herself. She was actually pretty financially disciplined — using YNAB to track every dollar, grinding hard, doing everything “right.” But she’d just come out the other side of paying off a massive amount of debt that wasn’t even hers, and she was sitting on a chunk of money with absolutely no idea what to do with it.

She knew she needed to invest. She just didn’t know how — or whether she could trust herself to do it.

That’s where we started in December 2021.

Where Taylor Started

Taylor is, by her own description, a data nerd. She loved her spreadsheets. She loved tracking. But when it came to investing, she was paralyzed.

She had money sitting in a financial advisor account — poorly managed, in the wrong fund for her situation — and a surplus hitting her bank account every paycheck with nowhere to go. She’d worked incredibly hard to get to this point. The idea of just “putting it in the stock market” felt reckless, even though she knew intellectually that it was the right move.

Sound familiar?

This is one of the most common places I see women get stuck. Not because they’re bad with money — but because nobody ever taught them what to do after the debt is paid off. The financial education system stops at “get out of debt” and leaves you standing there with a surplus and no roadmap.

Taylor needed the roadmap.

What Happened After She Joined the Lazy Investor’s Course

Here’s one of my favorite Taylor stories, and honestly one of my favorite moments in the entire history of the Lazy Investor’s Course.

Taylor was on a live coaching call in module four — we hadn’t even gotten to the section on account types yet — and she took her $50,000 in cash and invested it. Live. On the call. While I was still talking.

She bought into a total market index fund, allocated $5k to international, put the rest into a small cap fund for diversification, and then casually messaged me: “I just invested $50,000. I’ll let you know how it goes.”

I nearly fell off my chair.

(For the record: I always tell students to wait until they finish the course before making big moves, because they almost always want to adjust their allocations after module five. Taylor was no exception — she did make a few tweaks at the end. But her instincts were already solid.)

That $50,000? It’s now worth over $250k.

The Results: By the Numbers

Since completing the Lazy Investor’s Course in 2022, Taylor has:

    • Grown her original $50k investment to over $110,000 as of this interview from summer 2023 (and in a recent text exchange she let me know she’s at over $250k as of March 2025 — see screenshot below)

    • 3x’d her overall net worth (not including her home equity, which she excludes by choice — meaning the real number is even higher)

    • Fully funded a $50,000 emergency fund (she started at $20k and upped it after two layoffs — more on that in a second)

    • Maxed out her 401k every single year

    • Maxed out her HSA and is using it strategically

    • Set up automated investing into a brokerage account through Fidelity

    • Bought a home

    • Traveled to over six countries in two years — without going into debt

She also hit $100,000 invested — a goal she’d written down in the course workbook with an estimated date of January 2030. She hit it in 2023. Four years early.

The Part That Actually Matters Most: Two Layoffs

Here’s where Taylor’s story stops being about money and starts being about something bigger.

In the span of roughly a year, Taylor got laid off. Twice.

The first time? She took six weeks off to travel.

The second time? She took two months off to travel.

Not because she was in denial. Not because she was reckless. Because she had done the work to know — down to the dollar — that she was going to be okay. Her emergency fund was fully funded. Her automated investments were running. Her mortgage was covered. She had the numbers, and the numbers said: you have room to breathe.

So she breathed.

She turned down job offers that had red flags because she could afford to wait for the right one. She went to her friend’s 40th birthday in the Bahamas because it was already in her financial plan. She started a dog-sitting side gig on Rover not out of desperation but because she had time and thought it sounded fun.

In her words:

“I wasn’t freaking out. I know I’ve got the right skill set. I’m confident I’m going to find another job. It will take how long it takes. But I’m in a better mental health space because I’ve got my money house in order.”

That sentence is why I do this work.

Most people associate financial stress with not having enough money. But a huge part of it is not having a system — not knowing where you stand, not trusting yourself to handle what comes next. Taylor had the system. And when chaos hit, the system held.

What She Said About the Lazy Investor’s Course

I asked Taylor, four years later, what she’d say to someone sitting where she was in December 2021.

“It truly is life changing. To think about who I was in December 2021 — I am not that person anymore. A lot of it had to do with getting my financial house in order and feeling confident that I am going to be able to retire with dignity, and probably sooner than most people think.

The course created a community where I could celebrate other people’s wins, learn from what they were doing, implement those things for my own portfolio — and get other people to celebrate with me too. Not in a boastful way. In a ‘let’s raise all boats’ way. Where else do you get that?”

Is Clo Bare Money Coach Worth It? Here’s My Honest Take.

I know people come to this blog — and search for Clo Bare Money Coach reviews — because they want to know if this is real. If the results are real. If it works for people like them.

Taylor is real. Her numbers are real. And she’s one of thousands of students who have gone through the Lazy Investor’s Course and come out the other side managing their own investments, building real wealth, and making financial decisions from a place of confidence instead of fear.

She also started as someone who was already pretty financially together — and still got a dramatic result. Which means if you’re further behind than Taylor was, the upside is even bigger.

Is the course right for everyone? No. It’s for women who are ready to stop outsourcing their financial future and start learning how to manage their own money — simply, without needing to become a finance expert or stare at a stock ticker all day.

That’s the lazy investor way. Automate it, set it up right once, and go live your life.

Taylor went to six countries in two years. She got laid off twice and traveled both times. She hit $100k invested four years ahead of schedule.

That’s what having your money working for you actually looks like.
